A Deeper Approach to Mental Health
I’m Julie Bauserman, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (DNP, PMHNP-BC).
At Illuminate Integrative Psychiatry, my goal is to provide thoughtful, individualized mental health care that looks beyond symptoms and diagnoses. I take time to understand the whole person and consider the biological, psychological, social, and lifestyle factors that may be contributing to how you feel.
I believe the best care is collaborative. Together, we’ll explore what may be driving your symptoms, discuss treatment options grounded in evidence, and develop a plan that reflects your needs, values, and goals. My hope is to help you gain greater insight, experience meaningful healing, and create lasting change.
I want clients to feel heard, respected, and actively involved in decisions about their care. I value evidence-based medicine while remaining curious about emerging research and treatment options. Together, we can explore what is contributing to your symptoms, identify what is already working, and develop a treatment plan that supports meaningful and sustainable change.
About Me
I have an extensive clinical background spanning psychiatry, neurology, palliative care, public health, and military nursing. I founded Illuminate Integrative Psychiatry with the belief that meaningful mental health care begins with understanding the whole person—not simply treating a collection of symptoms.
My approach to psychiatry is thoughtful, collaborative, and integrative. Medication can be an important part of treatment, but it is rarely the entire picture. I consider the many factors that influence emotional and cognitive well-being, including sleep, nutrition, movement, relationships, physical health, hormonal and metabolic factors, life experiences, and the environments in which we live.
I earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Psychiatric Mental Health from the University of Utah. My clinical experience includes working with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing a wide range of psychiatric concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma-related disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and complex or treatment-resistant conditions. My work has also given me experience with interventional and emerging approaches to psychiatric care; including ketamine assisted psychotherapy and transmagnetic stimulation (TMS).
The breadth of my professional and lived experiences has shaped how I connect with and care for people. I’ve seen how profoundly health, family, culture, identity, and life circumstances can influence mental well-being, and I’ve had the privilege of working with people from many different backgrounds and stages of life. These experiences have taught me to approach each person with curiosity, respect, and a willingness to understand their experience without assumptions.
